So as you may know or maybe you don’t know, I have been influenced heavily by Hip-Hop. Even though most of the music you have heard from me is punk-rock or ska music, I believe you can still hear the rap-styling in my delivery. Gravediggaz is one of my biggest influences of all!
When the album 6 Feet Deep came out, it was so much different from anything else that was being released at the time.
Gravediggaz brought an element of horror to mix and I for one couldn’t keep from flipping the cassette over and over again. The grittiness of the lyrics made you visualize the dark urban underworld that these young men had emerged from or perhaps the hell of the projects that surrounding them. The beats were layered with eerie notes and almost satanic sounding samples that further helped paint a picture of blood and gore.
The group originally consisted of The Gatekeeper (Frukwan), The Undertaker (Prince Paul), The Grym Reaper (Poetic) R.I.P. and The Rzarector (RZA).
