2016 can go die in a fire.
For many of us who came to age during the 80s and 90s, George Michael was a formative figure in the LGBTQ+ community. In a time when it was known to be a career-ending move to announce you were anything but straight, George Michael didn’t give a damn.
And for those of us who saw him on our televisions, singing on MTV, it gave us hope and reminded us of what it meant to be free.
