The Dresden Dolls: Half Jack

Singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Amanda Palmer (formerly of the Dresden Dolls with drummer Brian Viglione, now a successful artist in her own right) has been one of independent music’s most outspoken champions in recent years. Her most recent album, Theatre Is Evil, was funded by a million dollar Kickstarter campaign which was in itself instrumental in popularising crowd-sourcing as a viable option for independent artists. She frequently plays free surprise gigs all over the world, announcing them at short notice on Twitter, and, in direct opposition to organisations such as the Featured Artists Coalition, advocates people sharing her music for free.

This live version of Half Jack (from The Dresden Dolls, 2003) dates from 2005, and captures some of the raw power of this band at the height of their power.
